DESCRIPTION

Administrative Professionals Day

Assist in coordinating activities to celebrate our school’s administrative professionals. This occurs in the spring, and is formerly known as Secretary’s Day.

Adopt a Book

Plan and implement the purchase of books for the HMS Media Center. Books adopted at Open House will be purchased and placed in the Media Center during the first semester and may be given in honor of a student, teacher, etc.

Attendance Office

Help in the attendance office checking students in and out of school, contacting parents, etc.

Book Fair

Assist with publicity and staff the fall and spring book fairs.

Building and Grounds

Assist in the beautification of both the inside and outside of the school.

Cultural Arts

Coordinate and schedule in-school cultural programs for the students.

Directory

Coordinate the publication of the school’s student directory.

Field Day

A day of sports and activities for the whole school.

Hospitality

Assists in hosting PTSA events.

Magazine Sales

This is the PTSA's fundraiser for the year. Assist with publicity, sale turn-in days, and rewards events. Everyone can participate by renewing your magazine subscriptions, subscribing to new magazines and inviting family and friends to do the same!

Main Office Volunteers

Assist the main office staff by answering phones, greeting and assisting visitors, etc.

Marquee

Regularly change the sign in front of the school building along Henderson Mill Rd. This is a great one to job share with a friend!

Media Center

Assist with checking books in and out, collecting fines, shelving books and other duties as designated by the media specialists.

Membership

Assists with signing up new members for the HMS PTSA, keeping a list of all members and reporting membership to the state office.

Newsletter Distribution

Assist with stuffing envelopes and distribution of the PTSA newsletter every 4 ½ weeks. The chairperson will coordinate and inform volunteers of dates and times.

Newsletter Editor

Compile articles and edits the PTSA newsletter, which is mailed home with progress reports.

Reflections

Assist with the National PTA arts competition held in late fall; advertise the event, collect the art work, coordinate judges, send winners’ works to the county for further competitions, work with county and state PTA Reflections liaisons.

School Store

Sell items to students before school and during lunch; also sell supplies on registration day; purchase supplies as needed.

Spirit Wear

Coordinate and purchase school spirit wear to sell throughout the year; sold through the school store and available on Sneak Peek “registration” day.

Staff Appreciation

Coordinate activities, treats, and food for the staff in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week that is usually held in early May and other times, as needed.

Team Parents Coordinator

Assist the team teachers as needed with communications, supplies, coordinating chaperones, parties, etc.
